Sunday Class – 22nd April

What a fabulous day of dancing. The beginners are all coming on so well and we had a fantastic turn up. The three Musketeers were back together and impressed all with their memory of the dances, I breezed through the teaching expecting the beginners to keep up and they didn’t disappoint, everyone coped very well giving themselves a round of applause afterwards. Of course Number three (My Hubby) Musketeer caused a bit of trouble again and was threatened with the naughty corner by the ladies, this had him behaving. I think he thinks because he’s the teachers other half he can get away with being a torment, well I think the ladies sorted that out real quick!! he looked scared.

Learners and advanced together.

The rest of the afternoon followed on where the learners left off, It was fantastic to see so many people come along and everyone had a ball.
I ended up so excited from the weekend I couldn’t sleep thinking about all the great dancing and music we had enjoyed, staying up to 2am, so I used the time to transfer the last of our music to the new computer so something positive came out of the late night.
see you all soon.

CANBERRA SOCIAL

On the 14th April, Val, Rhonda & myself went for a trip to Canberra, it was great weather & not as cold as we were expecting. We stopped off at Phil & Jenny Bates place to drop of our gear, had a quick cuppa & chat then off we headed to our first social with Roz & Stan Walker.

It was only a 20 minute trip to the venue, but somehow we turned it into a one and a half hour trip,  but I must say it was good getting lost as we saw lots of Canberra, which we would not have seen otherwise.

We stopped at Deakin shops to have lunch & get directions, which did not help at all & we ended up back where we started at Phil & Jenny’s place, so second time around we headed in the right direction & this time didn’t listen to our Tom Tom, NavMan contraption & went with our women's intuition, we had a road map & a street directory, finally we got to Holt and filled up with petrol, we were just around the corner from the church hall, I saw all the cars parked and said to the girls this is it, we are here, I drove in the driveway, and feeling very embarrassed we drove into the Aged Care Facility, Rhonda was in fits of laughter and said this is the perfect place for me. Ha ha ha.

Finally next door we found the church hall & entered feeling some what exhausted after our early morning start at 7.30am, but soon found the energy to start dancing with Roz & Stan, we were made to feel very welcome and had a great mix of dances old, new, easy & harder, with requests as well. What a lovely bunch of people, Thanks Roz & Stan for a lovely social.

It was 4.30pm and time to head back to Phil & Jenny’s place before darkness fell (so we can find our way). Where we freshened up for the next social. This social started at 7pm so we had plenty of time to have tea at the Austrian Club with all the National Capital Bootscooters family.

I loved the program it was like going back in time, just like the days when we were on the dance floor all the time, with a lot of golden oldies which had the brain cells rattled, but after a couple of walls the feet new what to do!!!!!!! We also had a few of the newer dances as well, This social was to celebrate 18 years of dancing, the atmosphere was terrific and we had lots of fun, thanks Phil & Jenny for letting us stay at your house.

The next morning it was time to head back home & do our 4 hour class, my legs only just held out by the end of the day and by the time I arrived home, had tea then off to bed at 8pm for a well earned rest.

MILTON SOCIAL

Another great social on Saturday afternoon 21st April, the hall was packed, the theme was blue, Collette turned up as one of the Blues Brothers with her black suit, white shirt & hat, she really looked the part, she couldn’t get Angela to take the part of the other brother, she should have the rest of us!!!!!!!! Someone would have done it.

Club Photographs

I am in the process of doing a special page for all our club photographs.
I have already uploaded quite a few shots.
I have also been going through " Bill Slater's " collection of old pictures and if you would like a trip down memory lane go to the Club Photographs link above and spend some time.
There are some classic old shots and some of the outfits are fantastic
they certainly brings back allot of great old memories for me.
Some are a bit fuzzy but there scans off old photographs so I can't do much about that.

White Sands Carnival.

This year the Carnival was bigger and better, Huskisson was jam packed with onlookers and fortunately for us we had our Semi Trailer back to decorate for the parade.
The parade finished at the Huskisson Soccer Oval and that’s where we all jumped in and packed away the props and decorations.

Then off to the park to wait for our turn to do some dancing in front of the crowd.

We must have made an impression because we took out “Best Float” again, but the Rock and Roll Float pipped us for the “Best Overall” Prize of $100.00
We are very proud of our efforts and want to thank everyone who helped out and were a part of our day.

Here’s a few pictures of the day.

If you would like to see more pictures and read another description of the day, visit the Shoalhaven Rock and Roll blog site
